Flare Parakites Compared: Scout vs Moustache² vs Bandit

Quick answer: Flare's parakite range has three current wings. The Scout (2026) is its entry-level, progression wing with zip-off "Adaptive Winglets". The Moustache² (2025) is a versatile wing for experienced pilots. The Bandit (2026) is a high-aspect-ratio performance parakite for advanced pilots. All three are EN 926-1 shock and load tested only, with no EN A–D flight class.

    About Flare

Flare started as an offshoot of skywalk Paragliders, and its manuals list the manufacturer as skywalk GmbH & Co. KG in Marquartstein, Germany. Physicist Armin Harich is its founder and partner, and Benni Bölli, head of R&D and a partner, is credited with the original Moustache and the "FLARE System". Flare released the original Moustache in early 2022 and describes itself as the first company to build a parakite.

    The FLARE System

Flare's wings use pulleys that mix the rear risers into the brake input. Flare's manuals give ratios of 1:3 at the C level and 1:6 at the B level. There's no speed bar or trimmer: the pilot sets angle of attack, speed and glide by hand. Raising the hands depowers the wing and speeds it up, and best-trim labels on the risers show the hand position for best glide.

    Flare Scout – entry level

Flare announced the Scout in July 2026 and calls it "ideal for learning to flare". It has 40 cells, and its key feature is a pair of Adaptive Winglets. Flare says that with the winglets on, the wing is calmer and more stable. With them off, it's more agile, tends towards a stable spiral and sinks faster. Flare recommends a product-specific training session.

Flare Moustache² – the versatile wing

The Moustache² launched in June 2025 as the successor to the original Moustache. It has 52 cells, and Flare positions it for experienced pilots doing proximity and terrain flying. Flare lists a reflex profile, shark nose, mini ribs, stabilo brake, a Riser Fix System and automatic drainage.

    Flare Bandit – high-aspect performance

Flare announced the Bandit in January 2026 as a "performance parakite" for advanced pilots doing coastal soaring, dynamic terrain runs and proximity flying. It has 63 cells, Dominico cloth, Kevlar main lines and Edelrid upper lines. Flare notes it needs active pilot input.
