Swing Sonic RS (Parakite)
One Wing. Your Session. Your Day.
Sizes: 15m2 - 24m2
Some days you want to carve the dune low and fast. Other days you want to float, play and kite until the light fades. The SONIC RS doesn't make you pick. It steps into the background and lets you fly the session you turned up for.
The SONIC RS is an all-round parakite built for the coast, the dunes and your local backyard spot. It grew out of SWING's SCORPIO RS reflex wing and was shaped by SWING's Italian R&D team, led by designer Alessio Casolla, over long sessions on the South African coast.
At the heart of it, RAST works with a stable reflex profile to keep the canopy composed across a wide wind range, so you can focus on your line and not on managing the wing.
The SONIC RS handles intuitively and rewards clean inputs, whether you're ground handling, soaring or setting up one more swoop.
One Wing. A Bigger Playground.
The SONIC RS covers more of the day than a single wing usually does. A wide usable wind range means less time waiting for conditions and more time flying.
Ground handling, soaring, touch-and-goes, long swoops along the dune. It has the agility for dynamic flying, the control for smooth flow and the easy handling that makes it all feel like freedom.
Speed. Agility. Full 3D Control.
This is where the SONIC RS comes alive. A precise mixer gives you direct control over pitch and yaw, and clear brake inputs turn speed back into height when you want it.
Wingtip stabilo steering comes on every size and can be set up to suit you. It blends the main and stabilo brakes for tighter turns, barrel rolls and more control through launches and swoops.
RAST. The Quiet Backbone.
RAST is SWING's internal chamber system, tuned here for parakiting. The canopy fills faster in light wind, holds its shape when it's blowing hard and stays neutral in pitch. You won't notice it working. You'll just notice the wing feels settled.
Built Smart. Built Strong. Built to Fly.
Every detail has been dialled in:
- Robust DOKDO D30 top surface and D20 bottom surface
- Reflex profile derived from the SCORPIO RS for stability at speed
- Nitinol-reinforced sharknose that holds its shape pack after pack
- Hybrid risers with Dyneema, Ronstan pulleys and Fidlock magnetic clips
- Rigid brake handles with a neoprene-padded grip bar
- 3D-printed depower pod for controlled ground handling
- 3D shaping, mini ribs and dirt outlets at the trailing edge
The SONIC RS is built to be flown hard, packed often and trusted session after session.
Who Is the SONIC RS For?
The SONIC RS is for pilots who choose a wing by how it feels to fly, not by a category or a number on a spec sheet.
Larger sizes
Intuitive and accessible enough for ambitious pilots stepping into the parakite world.
Experienced parakite pilots
Direct, dynamic and powerful enough to keep you grinning, from mellow coastal sessions to full-power days.
Even with RAST and a stable reflex profile, parakiting in strong wind demands proper training, good judgement and respect for the conditions. Not sure which size suits your weight and local wind? Get in touch and we'll help you choose.

FAQS
FAQ — SONIC RS Parakite
Q1: What kind of flying is the SONIC RS designed for?
The SONIC RS is an all-round parakite for the coast, the dunes and backyard spots. Think ground handling, soaring, touch-and-goes and swoops across a wide wind range.
Q2: Who is the SONIC RS best suited to?
It suits experienced parakite pilots as well as ambitious pilots moving into parakiting. The larger sizes are the most accessible, while the wing stays direct and powerful enough for experienced pilots.
Q3: What are the key technical features?
Some standout features include:
- 52-cell reflex canopy derived from the SCORPIO RS for stability at speed.
- RAST internal chamber system for fast filling in light wind and a composed canopy in strong wind.
- Nitinol-reinforced sharknose that keeps the leading edge and profile true.
- Wingtip stabilo steering on every size, adjustable to your preference.
- Hybrid risers with a precise mixer, Ronstan pulleys and Fidlock magnetic clips.
- Rigid brake handles and a 3D-printed depower pod.
Q4: What certification and weight ranges apply?
- The SONIC RS is certified under EN 926-1 for sizes 15, 18, 21 and 24.
- Take-off weight including equipment: size 15 is 50–119 kg, size 18 is 55–119 kg, size 21 is 60–119 kg and size 24 is 70–119 kg.
- Canopy weight runs from 3.5 kg (size 15) to 4.6 kg (size 24).
Q5: What materials and build quality can I expect?
A robust, durable build: DOKDO D30 on the top surface and D20 on the bottom, partially covered Nitinol wires, Dyneema lines, 12 mm webbing A-risers, Ronstan pulleys and Fidlock magnetic clips.
Q6: What should I keep in mind before flying the SONIC RS?
- Get proper parakite training and build up gradually in stronger wind.
- Choose your size by take-off weight and the wind you usually fly in.
- The depower pod is for ground handling only and must not be used in flight.
- The Fidlock clips hold the brake handles for packing. Hooking the brakes in is for genuine emergencies only, as the clips are not load tested.
- Follow SWING's service and inspection intervals.
Q7: What colours are available?
The SONIC RS comes in Green and Sangria.
Q8: What is included with the SONIC RS?
The standard delivery includes the SONIC RS canopy, a compression bag and the operating manual. A harness is sold separately. SWING recommends the Brave 5.
